The future begins today

For us, innovation is a journey into the future. We will spend most of our life in the future, so it is worth planning it well.

Hence our commitment to continuously improve quality and cost-effectiveness in our procurement, production and logistics processes.
Our R&D department is the outcome of decades of hard work to acquire resources, expertise and channels to explore. We therefore continuously invest in the market observatory, R&D and new technologies in order to guarantee:

  • highly qualified researchers;
  • modern labs and state-of-the-art tools;
  • careful selection, strict safety constraints, 10,000 inspections of raw materials;
  • sensory analysis and performance tests.

We are organised to manage incremental development projects, driven by Operational Marketing and radical development projects resulting from external scouting.
The first of these areas, product development, is aimed at constantly increasing the real and perceived value of the products offered.
The second area, closer to research, has been formed with excellent partnerships (universities, clinics, experimental stations, scientific-technological parks).
For both areas of activity, the field of investigation starts with raw materials and leads to what is offered to the market in terms of consumer goods and services. The entire design process is carried out in order to optimise the needs of the channels served and offer quality products that meet consumer expectations.

These are the key points for our R&D:

  • maintaining balanced assortments in line with changes in consumption and lifestyles;
  • selecting and adapting components to adjust the primary and secondary aspects that bring value to the product and act as purchasing drivers;
  • researching materials and logistics solutions that lead to savings and a reduction in environmental impact;
  • researching formulas and recipes for food and detergents with specific slogans or target groups.

Innovation is driven by passion and curiosity

Analysing, interacting and sharing experiences, tools and solutions that focus on responsible innovation provide opportunities to address the social, economic and cultural changes taking place.

We welcome innovative ideas that require the acquisition of knowledge prior to product development tout court, by activating research plans, related to market surveys and/or product concept studies.

Once the product model has been identified, the development phase begins, which includes:

  • defining product components for our initially set quality/function/performance objectives;
  • designing or adapting technologies, equipment, processing cycles and flows;
  • technical, functional and performance tests in one or more steps;
  • market pre-tests in collaboration with the customer if required;
  • pilot production tests;
  • validation with industrialisation and product-testing at the customer's premises.

Our R&D department has received excellent feedback on packaging, thanks to researching and producing sustainable packaging solutions for food and detergents.

Our research methods

Our R&D team has two divisions: food and detergents. Each member of the team has specific and different objectives depending on their product sector.
The research and measuring methods we use are the result of external collaboration and consulting, although they are developed in our labs.

  • Food division. Our research is based on traditional methods of analysis and checking (e.g. shelf-life tests), as well as advanced methods (CG and gas-mass extractions) to select and set flavour and nutritional qualities. It is increasingly focused on the sensory analysis of ingredients and food.
  • Detergents division. We use internal and external wash and efficacy testing as well as fragrance selection techniques to assess pleasantness, durability and consistency.
